Your Clitoris and You! P-S-A

Is the shape of your clitoris breeding insecurities?

Does the size of your clitoris have you worried that maybe you're not measuring up?

Have no doubt--- many, many women suffer the same clitoral apprehension. You don't have to be a slave to the demanding standards of the adult entertainment industry any longer (unless you're into that kind of thing). And here's why...

It’s a strange and maybe personal topic no doubt. Do you (women who watch porn) ever sit around scrutinizing adult films and find yourself looking down thinking ‘um, my clitoris doesn’t look like that’?

After some rather extensive *ahem* research, I discovered that I’m not the only one who thinks about those things while watching porn. I know men compare themselves and have ego issues about the size of their ‘copulation tool’. I think women often wonder about the shape and size of their girly parts too. Maybe not as often, or to the same degree, but it happens.

Just like a penis, every vagina is unique. It does seem though, that all of those women (most adult industry actresses) have some sort of manufactured look to their clitoris. In reading 'The Self Made Man' - which by the way is still excellent so far - the author Norah, as Ned, is in a strip club, and making observations about strippers and their vaginae. She takes note that all of these women have the same doll-like quality, surreal vaginae even.

All together it's been stirring my clitoral insecurities. Other women and I have discussed these 'industry boxes', in comparison with our own packaging. Most of the time I get the same sort of response: 'Yeah, hey why is that? Mine doesn't look anything like that!' Or they assume that it is a well 'used' look.

I don't think it's a well 'used' look, at least not anymore. Now I just think that we're all like special snowflakes and you should know that yours is wonderful too. If you still have doubts, I'm sure I can find someone for you to send a picture to, in order to get that unbiased opinion you crave.

I agree... not that I have had an overflow of vaginae to compare with but from what I do know from my experiences is that each vagina is special in their own special way.
God bless each and every one of them.

Oh, now you've really gone and done it! How am I supposed to send my "respectable" readers over here now?!?

;)

No one needs respectable. Seriously. I have it on good authority that its highly overrated anyway.

Thanks for the Public Service Announcement, Crayons. I was beginning to feel embarrassed about both the size and shape of my clitoris.

Now, when I glance down at that misshapen bulge of flesh between my thighs, I at least know that I'm not alone.

It almost makes me all warm and tingly...

...Oh sorry. I must've accidentally rubbed that bulge of flesh. Disregard the warm and tingliness...I brought that on myself ;)

I've heard that many women in the adult industry have had work done-- not only on their breasts (which is obvious by the immobile melons stuck to their chests) but on their vaginae (vaginas?) as well.

Labiaplasty. It's the new trend. Which would be why they all look alike, and why none of us seem to look like them.

Totally been there, done that. I work for a by women, for women porn company AND go to school for human sexuality education, yet I still marvel at how different vulvas are (and have defininely used the snowflake analogy regarding everyone having different orgasms, so I really appreciate your use of snowflakes)...

Lots and lots of women have these discussions (with themselves or with friends) regarding what might be "normal" in a vulva, etc. And of course, unless you're having pain or issues with having the type of sex you want to be having, there is no normal.

I reccommend the film 'Viva La Vulva' from Betty Dodson for anyone interested in a variety of vulvas (clits, hoods, lips, and vaginas - oh my) - it's fabulous!

It's my biggest insecurity physically.
The cellulite on my butt is tolerable even if a bit embarrassing.
I KNOW I smell clean, thanks to pH 5.5 SebaMed from Canada.
But I am totally paranoid I look funny down there, even if I am totally waxed.
Too big, too puffy, too much.

Ha...I'm 50 years old and just a few months ago found out that there are "pretty" vulvae and ones that are considered unattractive. It never occurred to me that this might be a consideration.

So, Ok, maybe I'm just a slow learner. But quite frankly, I find it a very odd discussion. For the record, I never rated :attractiveness" of a cock either. Length, thickness, tumescense, yes....but what are the parameters there?

Personally, all genitalia look a bit odd...kinda like ears look a bit odd to me. So that would be my vote.

And oh..barring major hemorhoids,is there a such a thing as an "attractive vs. unattractive" asshole, too?

Does it ever end, these ways we can feel bad about our bodies?

thanks for the PSA on this. i have noticed that most adult stars do have a "doll" quality about them...but i never even thought of having work done on my girly parts....yikes!

at least, i know i am not alone...and we are all different and beautiful in our own rights.

I've always thought it odd how all the chicks in Playboy have such perfect little vaginas without any sort of labial differences. I guess if natural boobs are going to be more popular, you had to set yourself apart some other way.

There are diffecent levels of asshole attractiveness, hence all the anal bleaching with the pornstars. I read about it in some mainstream magazine a few months back. As if getting waxed weren't awkward enough, you can have a stranger bleach your ass.

Getting in this a little late but loved the post and comments (bleaching...wowo!). Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder and a beautiful clitoris is attached to the 100% valuable person! Other than all the VERY interesting aforementioned; porn stars, et al, "exercise" their parts (male and female) to develop said parts like any other muscle or body part. Just as Sailors have strong forearms...no, not from that (though a threesome with right and left haneded twins isn't unheard of), but from working daily with line and gripping railings, ladders, and such...porn stars will have larger and more revealing parts. In the case of the clitoris, isn't it entirely possible that the hood is worked back so much that more is revealed therefore it seems bigger (sans surgery)?
