Whispers in the Wind...

Beth invited me to join her in a friendly writing competition that she frequently participates in.

Jason Evans, of The Clarity of Night, I think, takes these pictures and based on this picture we write. The objective is short fiction, 250 words max and due by next Wednesday. My entry is #18 called Life. Feel free to tell me what you think.

I am not, as a general rule, a writer. That is to say, I get too caught up in details, and start focusing desperately on the stop sign instead of what is going on in the car. Normally, I really enjoy writing dreary emo poetry, or did in the past. I was very macabre - except, only really when I was writing my pathetic prose.

Bah, here I am describing something that has nothing to do with anything I was actually trying to say - a clear indicator no? It was fun and no pressure at all. I am vastly entertained by some of the other writers. I'm definitely not up to par, but I liked my story well enough, and I hope they (or you) do too.

Out sick and HHNT!

So, I've been having coughing fits. I'm sure there are better ways to spend my time but I thought, 'hey, this week I'll share the cold my daughter has and feel a little crappy for a few days!' - I mean, who doesn't think that sounds like fun?

Today is the first day I've really felt more like myself and it's weird how we take things like say, breathing, for granted. Until the day when your nose is clogged and every breath you take makes you hack and feel like death warmed over, you don't realize how very sweet it is to just breathe. It's always like that though isn't it? You think, 'Oh geeze if I could just breathe through my nose!' Are we thankful for it though? No, we're ungrateful bastiges! :P

I remember I had the flu really bad once in 8th grade. The problem was that picture day was coming up and my bangs had finally grown out enough to REALLY stick them up high. It was 1991-1992, so my big hair can be forgiven. In those Jr. High years, though, the lack of conditioner should NOT be forgiven.

HHNT!

Just a day-day

Happy Valentines Day to all of you who buy into the 'day for romance' thing, or just Happy Valentines Day, for those who just nod and smile about it all like I do.

Today I have a plethora of chores to cross off of my angst causing list. I am really not into doing any of them today. The fact that I actually started dinner is not an indicator that I remembered to accomplish such a feat, but rather the result of Mr.T calling and making sure he wouldn't be starving tonight.

If anyone else would like to join me in the, 'Eh, it's just a day, and actually I'd like to just laze around all day' club, then you're more than welcome to sign up here!

The Day of Zest

You may not know this about me, but that word, 'zest' has followed me around for quite some time. In a year book my freshman year, to fill in the 'empty spaces', they would re-print pictures and write some clever name underneath it. They used my photo and it said 'Feeling Zesty'. Seriously.

So a few years later I get the 'Birthday Book', wherein I was born on 'The Day of Zest'. A few years later my friend randomly gives me a bumper sticker and of course, it says 'ZESTY!'.

Here, you will find the definition of zest. Just in case you don't want to click that, though, allow me to present the choices:

1.keen relish; hearty enjoyment; gusto.
2.an agreeable or piquant flavor imparted to something.
3.anything added to impart flavor, enhance one's appreciation, etc.
4.piquancy; interest; charm.
5.liveliness or energy; animating spirit.
6.the peel, esp. the thin outer peel, of a citrus fruit used for flavoring: lemon zest.
–verb (used with object)
7.to give zest, relish, or piquancy to.

To this I say, things could be worse. Being labeled as clean, or a citrus flavor, really, not so bad when you think about it. Not bad at all!

The birthday book imparts the life altering information about who was born on the day that I was born, and the day everyone else was born on too. This is important because it can tell you a little bit about yourself, and seeing as these people are usually celebrities, well of COURSE anyone would WANT to identify with them. <--*please read the sarcasm* Here are my celebrity personality look alike type people:

Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel
- this is why I need 'criminality' as a label for my blog posts. I'm obviously predestined to open a hotel in Vegas and eventually be murdered.

Charles Blondin - A French tightrope walker, crossed Niagara Falls on stilts, which obviously means... well... that the man was INSANE.

Linus Pauling - Nobel Prize-winning chemist, molecular structure, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Vitamin C advocate, How to Live Longer and Feel Better. That, is exactly, how it was worded.

So, what we've learned here is that 'criminality' belongs in my labels and lets face it, Vegas is where I belong! Also, I'm probably barely avoiding insane stunts on tight rope and I never lived up to my full potential as a brilliant chemist. What DID fit was that the Linus guy liked Vitamin C, and I love Vitamin C. To the right, here, is the kind of Vitamin C I like best!

Personally I've decided those books don't 'work' for me. So I got a new one! This book combines your Chinese sign and your Astrological sign, that way it's way more accurate. How could you resist a book with a title that reads "The NEW Astrology". Yes, that's right everyone, throw that OLD Astrology out the window!

So here I am, looking at my 'page'. I am a Pisces /Horse. What could be stranger than that? Is that like surf and turf? Ugh, I just grossed myself out. The biggest perk about this book? This NEW Astrology, does not infer that I may be used in certain salads as a nice refreshing hint of citrus.

A little T&A for HNT

... well, some 'A' anyway.

First we'll start out with what I call the "I'M STILL YOUNG" Grandma picture. My Grandmother was very very young when I was born. She was like forty-one or something. My Mother said she cried when she found out about the pregnancy - because she thought she was too young to be a Grandma. I figure that's what she gets for having her own babies so young!

Next we have the 'A' - don't get too excited, it's really not about 'A' per se, it's more about my inability to let anyone take a picture without me in it - even if I'm showing off my 'A'.

This is the second one taken wherein I was told to cover my rear if I wanted to be in the picture.
